Growing Hope runs free Building Blocks for the Local Food Entrepreneur workshops focused on finances, licensing, marketing, food safety, and other skills that allow farmers, startup food businesses and farmers market vendors to grow their businesses.

In the state of Michigan, you can make many products at home and legally sell them at a farmers market, such as jams, pies or dried herbs. Understand what you can legally make and sell under the Cottage Food Law. Heather Duncan from the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will speak about the technicalities of the Cottage Food Law and how you can get your dream food business started.

This is a beginning level workshop, geared for people just starting to think about starting a food-based business.
