Raised Bed Installs

Our Free Raised Bed Installs project provides qualifying low-or no-income individuals and families with space and resources to get their gardens growing.  Individuals and families living within Ypsilanti can apply for three 4x4 foot raised beds at absolutely no cost. We build the beds, supply compost, provide the fruits, vegetables, and herbs that you want, and give you access to a library of gardening resources.

In exchange, we ask that you weigh and track how much is grown and where the produce goes using a simple tracking sheet. We also encourage taking photographs of your garden growing throughout the season, we love to see your progress and hear from you.

In Spring 2009, we installed raised beds for forty families, and another 40 were installed this fall.  To apply for this spring's install, become a Growing Gardens member and request a free raised bed install on your application.
