Our board of directors' primary responsibilities are Fundraising, Ambassadorship, & Governance. If you're ready to dig in and raise financial and other support for the organization, connect & spread the word about GH in the community, or lending financial/legal/managment skills to the organization, please apply! Our board also has a lot of fun as they work to grow and sustain our blossoming organization; board members 8-12 hours a month to the organization. We're also accepting non-board committee members in fund development. If you are ready to jump into philanthropy or share your experience in raising financial resources, consider joining one of our teams. Our Growing Hope Fund Development and Growing Hope Center Capital Campaign committees are accepting applications for membership! If you are interested in applying to be a board or committee member, email your resume and a brief note about your interest to amanda@growinghope.net. If you haven't yet, you can also get started on our Volunteer Application, and mention your interest in board or committee service!

Growing Hope incorporated on May 23, 2003-- meaning that this Sunday, May 23, 2010 will be our 7th birthday. We sure have grown-- and grown with all of you and an amazing community around us! We emerged from the Perry Learning Garden (recently tranformed into a plot-rental community garden) and early youth programming efforts we did with support and mentorship from Creative Change Educational Solutions and others. Come celebrate with us on Sunday from 1-4 pm at the Growing Hope Center! There will be pizza baked in our adobe oven by Silvio of Silvio's Organic Pizza, a sandcastle contest, tours of the hoophouse, our bees, and the overall work in progress that is the GHC! Donations requested of $.07-$70,000, and anywhere in between! Fun for the whole family. RSVP to let us know you're coming.
Saturday's forecast is beautiful and sunny, and we're excited for you to come get all of your seedlings for veggies & herbs from us during our last big Plant Sale of the spring! We've also got raised bed kits (get there early to get yours as they could run out!) and beautiful edible planters-- salad & herb mixes & edible flowers about ready to harvest in an attractive patio pot made from recycled material. Join us from 10 am - 4 pm at the Growing Hope Center at 922 West Michigan Ave in Ypsilanti. Our seedlings are looking gorgeous right now, so we're happy to find them homes with you and bring in crucial funds that support the seedlings we give away to low-income and no-income families. Are you celebrating your Ypsi PRIDE that morning? If so, join us in the afternoon after the event-- since you'll have cleaned & planted community spaces in the morning, you can go home and clean & spruce your own place in the afternoon!
Join us on Thursday, May 6th for our free monthly community potluck! We'll be at the Ypsi Senior Center, 1015 N. Congress, from 6-8 pm... Bring a dish to pass, a table setting (we'll have some if you forget), and friends and family. The goal is to share food and cheer as we build community. RSVP right here. Will look forward to seeing you!
