Growing Hope is delighted to announce our 2015 Patronicity crowdfunding campaign to create a permanent, indoor-outdoor, year-round place for our beloved Downtown Farmers Market: the Ypsilanti Farmers MarketPlace!

Patronicity is a crowdfunding site devoted to local projects. Our goal is to raise $65,000 by Tuesday, June 9th, and if we succeed, we'll receive $65,000 match from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. This will be an important part of funding the renovation of two underutilized properties in the heart of downtown Ypsilanti. The Ypsilanti Farmers MarketPlace means our Tuesday farmers markets can happen year-round, rain or shine! With the support of our donors and sponsors, the MarketPlace will be open in time for the Downtown Farmers Market to be housed there this winter, connecting our community with fresh, local food all year long.

Check out our Patronicity project page to learn more and donate TODAY!

Want to start your own seedlings indoors but don't know how?

There's still space in Seed Starting Squad! Seed Starting Squad is a great way to get more knowledge and experience starting seeds indoors, so you save money on plants, and get an early start on the growing season!  It's our first opportunity of the year for Growing Gardens members to access awesome resources & education from Growing Hope!

Here's how it works: as a Growing Gardens member you can apply to be part of our Seed Starting Squad and, Growing Hope will sell or loan you a light stand for seed growing. The light stand will hold four flats for seedlings-- you will grow two flats for us (we provide the flats, soil, and seeds) and have room under the lightstand for two flats for yourself!

When you join Seed Starting Squad, you're joining other households and groups to help Growing Hope grow vegetable, herb, and flower seedlings for distribution this spring to community members, to use on our educational urban demonstration farm, and for sale to raise funds to support our work!

Sign up now and join us on Wednesday, March 11 at 5:30 to pick up your seed trays, light-stands and learn everything you need to know to start growing plants like a champ!

Sign up for your annual Growing Gardens membership here, and then learn more and  apply to the Seed Starting Squad here!
