Jobs & Internships

 The Growing Hope Family

Residents of Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor, and from across Washtenaw County come together, every day, to do the work that has helped Growing Hope become a nationally recognized contributor to increasing access to fresh, local produce for underserved populations.  Through the Americorps*VISTA program, skilled and creative community members dedicate a year of full-time volunteer service — contributing more than 16,000 hours since 2008. Additionally, a talented board of directors, community volunteers, students, and youth interns play strong leadership roles in the organization.

Join the Growing Hope Family

Even though we're not currently hiring, we are accepting applications for our board of directors and several organizational committees.  Our board of directors' primary responsibilities are Fundraising, Ambassadorship, & Governance.  If you're ready to dig in and raise financial and other support for the organization, connect & spread the word about GH in the community, or lending financial/legal/managment skills to the organization, please apply!  Our board also has a lot of fun as they work to grow and sustain our blossoming organization; board members 8-12 hours a month to the organization.  We're also accepting non-board committee members in fund development.  If you are ready to jump into philanthropy or share your experience in raising financial resources, consider joining one of our teams.  Our Growing Hope Fund Development and Growing Hope Center Capital Campaign committees are accepting applications for membership!  If you are interested in applying to be a board or committee member, email your resume and a brief note about your interest to amanda@growinghope.net.  You can also get started on our Volunteer Application if you haven't yet submitted one.

Our summer 2010 internships are all in place, but we still need volunteers to support in these and other program areas!  Head right over to our Volunteer Application and let us know how you'd like to be involved.  All hands on deck!

  • Garden Programs: Help people improve their lives and communities through gardening by supporting home and community gardeners.
  • Summer Youth Programs:  Promote healthy lifelong eating habits through our summer gardening and nutrition education programs.
  • Urban Farm Programs: Help us develop our working urban microfarm in the heart of Ypsilanti as a space for food production and education.
  • Volunteer Management:  Volunteers are the lifeblood of Growing Hope.  Learn management skills and systems through helping execute our volunteer programs during our busiest season.
  • Design and Marketing: Help us get the word out about what we do!  Assist Growing Hope with marketing and media through online & social media, documentary film, and print materials.  Help us document our programs and recruit participants from the community.
  • Downtown Ypsilanti Farmer’s Market: Support our market and help it thrive through assisting in market management, food assistance programs, and marketing efforts.

Growing Hope also offers several full-time, year-round Americorps VISTA positions, often beginning in the fall.  Please check back late summer for our 2010-2011 VISTA opportunities.
