Our 2012 events have come to a close, but we're looking forward to bringing back Chefs in the Garden in 2013!!
Chefs in the Garden:
Join us as talented local chefs dish up seasonal fare during these delicious dinner parties at the Growing Hope Center’s urban farm in Ypsilanti. Instead of one big Hope’s Harvest gala this year, these smaller events will offer a more intimate garden party. Mark your calendar for Sunday at dinner time (late afternoon-early evening) on August 19, September 16, & October 14. Tickets are $45 ($25 is tax deductible) and available now! Table sponsorships are also available for $250 and include two tickets. Contact us if you're interested in that opportunity!
Sunday, August 19, 5-8 pm: Food Culture & Heritage. Chefs: Emil Boch (From the Hearth Food) & Kim Nichols (Harvest Kitchen), and featuring our Growing Hope Youth Interns. On the tail end of the Ypsilanti Heritage Fest, enjoy flavors celebrated in present and past by cultures around the globe and close to home. Sunday, September 16, 5-8 pm: Sustainability. Chefs: Silvio (Silvio's Organic Ristorante and Pizzeria) & Benjamin Meyer (Iridescence @ Motor City Casino). Celebrate the sustainability of the Growing Hope Center and tour the innovative green features of our headquarters and urban farm including recycled glass plaza, green roof, geothermal system, cisterns, and more. Sunday, October 14, 4-7 pm: Economic Development in Ypsilanti. (Chefs: Brandon Johns (The Grange) & Bona Sera. Gather with others who care about the vitality of our community & region, and see how food and agriculture are and can be a part of Ypsilanti's positive future. This dinner will support our Downtown Ypsilanti Farmers' Market and other community revitalization projects! Buy your tickets now!
Would you like to be on our host committee for one of these dinners? As a host, you help to develop a guest list and spread the word about the event to your friends & colleagues. You'll purchase your own ticket ($45) and recruit 5 others to also purchase tickets and join you at the event. Once there, your job is to just enjoy the event and make your guests and others feel welcome. We'll include your name on the host committee list in our outreach efforts. Contact us to let us know!

Recurring Community Events
Growing Hope Center Tour Now that we've moved in to the Growing Hope Center, we're offering many chances for you to come see the place! Check our calendar to confirm, but currently we're offering tours Wednesdays at 6 pm. You need to sign up in advance by writing us at rsvp@growinghope.net and let us know what date you'll join us. The Growing Hope Center is at 922 West Michigan Ave, Ypsilanti, MI 48197.
Community Potluck Each month, we host a Community Potluck dinner to cultivate an inter-connected local community with food and gardening as the centerpiece. These Potlucks encourage conversation and action revolving around sustainable communities, urban farming, and healthy food access. All are invited to share in a meal and discussion with friends and neighbors! In 2012 we're partnering with the Ypsilanti Food Co-op and the Ypsilanti Public Library for a Sustainability Film Series that occurs after each potluck. Check our calendar for upcoming dates and film titles-- currently, potlucks are the 2nd Friday evening of the month at the downtown Michigan Ave branch of the library. The locations and dates change seasonally, so always check our calendar before coming out!
