Have you always wanted to savor the flavor of summer through canning and preserving, taste the freshest flavors of honey and apples, or learn how to extend your gardening season?

Then you’re headed in the right direction! Growing Hope, along with local experts, has lined up an exciting workshop and class series (Veggucation) for late summer and fall of 2016. Read on for September’s Veggucation offerings! 

Canning & Preserving: Pickles Sat. Sep. 10th 10am-12pm Growing Hope $15. Hands-on Enjoy the bounty of the growing season and learn how to preserve your harvest! Join Home Vegetable Gardeners turned “Garden Gurus”, Luca and Matthias, for a class all about using fall produce and turning it into delicious pickles. This class will cover selecting quality produce, the kinds of products that can be preserved at home, and the equipment you’ll need to get started. We’ll discuss basic food preservation techniques as well as what produce lends itself to which preservation technique and why. You’ll leave with samples and the skills to enjoy the harvest all year long. This is an introduction class. Registration required by Sept. 8th. Happy Hour: Apples & Honey Tasting Thur. Sep. 15th 6pm-7pm Growing Hope $10-$20. Join Growing Hope for a Taste-Test Happy Hour! We are celebrating fall by sampling a variety of apples and delicious honeys. Monthly Taste-Test Happy Hours at Growing Hope are a good time to try something new and stop by the farm to see what’s growing. Each Taste Test Happy Hour has a Suggested Donation starting at $10 to support Growing Hope’s work in the community. Click Here to Register!

We Scream for Ice Cream! Wed. Sep. 28th 6pm-8pm Go! Ice Cream $15. Join Growing Hope for a Taste-Test Happy Hour! We are celebrating the final days of summer by sampling a variety of herb butters. Monthly Taste-Test Happy Hours at Growing Hope are a good time to try something new and stop by the farm to see what’s growing. Each Taste Test Happy Hour has a Suggested Donation starting at $10 to support Growing Hope’s work in the community. Nothing tastes better than homemade ice cream. Join Rob Hess at Go! Ice Cream to explore exciting new flavors along with traditional favorites. Rob will cover the origins of classic ice creams and demonstrate how to get started making ice cream at home! Registration required by Sept. 26th. Growing Gardens Members can use their 15% membership discount to attend! This class will be held at Go! Ice Cream, 10 N.
